Robin Bailey, trained at the Royal Academy of Music and on the Opera Course at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Robin’s solo oratorio work includes B Minor Mass/Bach, Mozart Requiem & Le Grand Messe de Morts/Berlioz (Canterbury Cathedral), St. Matthew Passion/Bach (Bristol Beacon), The Bells/Rachmaninov (Winchester Cathedral), Israel in Egypt/Handel (Southwark Cathedral), The Crucifixion/Stainer (St. Martin’s in the Fields), Elijah/Mendelssohn (Dorchester Abbey).
Robin was a founding member of the A Capella group Voces8. He was also awarded 2nd prize in the International Lotte Lenya competition in New York, and the Young artists’ prize at the Les Azuriales competition in Nice, France. He has also appeared on screen with Donald Sutherland in a series based on the life of John Paul Getty called Trust directed by Danny Boyle.
This Summer Robin will be reprising his role as Henry Crawford in Mansfield Park with Waterperry Opera, as well as playing Pirelli in Sweeney Todd at West Green House Opera. In 2024 he is very excited to be working with Barbara Hannigan on the Rake’s Progress as an Equilibrium artist, touring Sweden and Germany.
