Equilibrium Michalis BoliakisMichalis Boliakis was born in Athens and studied piano performance, collaborative piano and vocal coaching at the Conservatoire National Supérieur of Paris (CNSM), where he holds a permanent vocal coach position since 2012. He has worked as performer and vocal coach in numerous major European concert venues, among which Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, Opéra-Comique, Philharmonie de Paris, Festival d’Aix-en-Provence and Megaron of Athens, and collaborated with distinguished conductors such as Gianandrea Noseda, Kasushi Ono, Barbara Hannigan, Jonathan Darlington, Jérémie Rhorer and singers such as Irina Lungu, George Gagnidze, Daniel Behle, Jane Archibald. Michalis is currently a third year C.V. Starr Doctoral Fellow at the Juilliard School, and his research is focused on the de-canonization of Western music history, or the process of creating dissident historical narratives, which include unfairly underrepresented groups of musicians of the past.
