We are delighted to welcome conductor Asieh Mahyar as one of our EQ Guest Coaches. Asieh is working with EQ Apprentice Conductor Haniye Kian on repertoire, analysis and conducting technique.
Asieh Mahjar is a dynamic conductor committed to innovative programming and collaborative performances. Originally from Iran, she serves as the Director of Orchestras and Assistant Professor of Music at the University of Texas at San Antonio. Previously, she has held conducting and teaching positions at Pacific Lutheran University, West Seattle Community Orchestras, and assistant conductor positions at leading academic institutions in the United States and abroad. Asieh has collaborated with ensembles including the Grand Rapids Symphony, Jackson Symphony, Northwest Mahler Festival, and Marquette Symphony Orchestra and is active as a clinician and adjudicator nationwide. Asieh is a DMA candidate in Orchestral Conducting at Michigan State University and a recent winner of the Adrian Gnam International Conductors Workshop and Competition. www.asiehmahyar.com
