24 yr old American musician Benjamin Wenzelberg was brought on board to be assistant conductor for me at Spoleto Festival. I was also invited to give a solo recital at the home of renowned composer Giancarlo Menotti, and created the opportunity to share this special event with Benjamin, featuring him not only as my pianist, but also featuring his capacities as countertenor and composer. We both were generously hosted by Marina Mahler at Casa Mahler, where we were surrounded by beautiful art, sculpture and music, as well as an array of artists coming in and out of this vivid home.
